It’s the end of the year and that makes it a great time to look back upon all of the amazing things that happened in crochet in 2016. It’s a reminder of just how much amazing inspiration there is in this craft throughout the world and across different disciplines. Today we’ll begin by looking at CROCHET ART.
Crochet Artist Profiles
Brazilian Embroidery and Crochet Artist Leandro Dario … What I love most about this artist is the mingling of mediums and the way that this art walks the edge between high fashion and street art.
Interview with Amigurumi Artist Betibettin whose terrifically fun amigurumi work is enhanced by GIF action or posed in intriguing ways to create art scenes.
Organic micro jewelry crochet artist Fujitamiho (Miho Fujita) … You can see the organic nature of this work. It’s there in the curves, the mushroom-caps and the layering of leaf work. It’s there in the colors that have been dyed from natural materials.
Yarnbombing crochet artist Julia Riordan
Sam Moss of Bella Blossom … These aren’t necessarily micro crochet items but small designs laid out together to create stories with crochet built into portions of the work.
Endless crochet art inspiration from Olek, one of my favorite artists who is always pushing the envelope in terms of what can be done with crochet, how it can work in collaboration with others and the integration of craft and performance art.

Mandalas for Marinke posted in June
Much of July was spent getting the final submissions uploaded for the Mandalas for Marinke project. The project will continue into 2017 as I wrap up the book about the project and continue to look for opportunities to display all of the submitted mandalas in an art show.
