I am happy to be able to bring you a really great giveaway today for a set of four amazing luxury pillows from Brentwood Home. What do pillows have to do with crochet? Lots, actually. And even if they didn’t, you would want to get your hands on these cozy pillows for general improvement in your quality of sleep / life.
Giveaway Item
The item available for giveaway (entry information towards the bottom of this post) is the Sleep Wellness Bundle, which is a set of four pillows. Two of the pillows are Helena Latex Filled Pillows and the other two are Carmel Latex Pillows. I’ll tell you more about why I like them so much in the review below, but first let me tell you why I’m sharing pillows on a crochet blog …
What Do Pillows Have to do with Crochet?
I have a personal rule that the only giveaways that I do on this blog are crochet-related giveaways of products that I really like and believe in. These pillows are admittedly only tangentially related to crochet but I found the products to be so good that I wanted to recommend them to others. And the value of this giveaway is good enough that I really believe it’s something you’re going to take an interest in. That said, most crocheters would agree that pillows are a comfy extra part of our craft, not quite the necessity that a hook and yarn is but still a good thing to have around when crafting. Here are some of the ways I personally use pillows in crochet:
- I often crochet in bed where I am typically propped up against a pillow. The firm Carmel Latex Pillows are especially great for this.
- Also in bed, I like to prop my working crochet project up on a pillow on top of my lap. It is great for bringing the work up to the right level so that I don’t have pain from hunching over.
- If I have to craft in a less-than-comfy chair, a pillow makes a really great cushion. With that, I’m able to sit longer and therefore craft longer.
- I usually have a pillow or cushion of some sort behind my back when I’m sitting at my computer, which is where I research crochet information online or read crochet books at my desk.
- I have made crochet pillowcases in the past and why not custom make new ones for brand new luxury pillows?! They also look nice propped up on the bed with my crochet blankets.
- I believe that you can crochet your way to better sleep but it’s part of a total sleep wellness plan and good pillows are a must for that.
Really, I just think that these are great pillows. Let me tell you why …
Sleep Wellness Pillow Bundle Review
I received four of the pillows myself to try out and wouldn’t be offering them a giveaway if I didn’t think they were great. I do. I have pretty much always had cheap pillows. I’ve bought slightly more expensive ones over the years to get hypoallergenic features but they’ve never been true luxury pillows. In addition to causing allergies, some of the cheap pillows I’ve ordered from other places online have arrived with a chemical smell (which was definitely not the case with these cozy Brentwood Home pillows). My cheap pillows of the past have gone flat quickly, have to be folded up again and again to give me any kind of support and generally just aren’t anything comfy to speak of.
Enter these new pillows that have forever sold me on investing in better pillows! I particularly love the Carmel Latex Pillows. The website explains, “Fixed in a traditional pillow shape, the Carmel offers resilient support with a latex filling that bounces right back. The Carmel never requires fluffing, and healthy materials like 100% organic cotton and natural latex mean you can sleep safe and sound.” What this means is that these are truly firm pillows that retain their shape and offer awesome support. I personally always thought that I hated firm pillows but I have now learned that what I was getting were hard pillows (not comfy) instead of firm pillows (so comfy). I have found these to be very versatile pillows. I can sleep with one underneath my head and one serving as a sort of body pillow. Or I can prop one behind my back and one under my project when sitting up to crochet in bed. Perfect.
Brentwood Home says that the Helena Latex Filled Pillows are “the favorite amongst our most eco-friendly customers. Filled with a combination of 100% natural latex ribbons and silky-smooth kapok fibers, this pillow is both fluffy and supportive. With resilient latex responding to your movements through the night, the Helena is great for those who sleep in multiple positions.” These pillows are fluffy instead of firm but they aren’t flat like many soft pillows I’ve used in the past. They can also be easily opened (via zipper) if you want to refresh with more stuffing (ribbons etc) over time. They’re a great compliment to the Carmel pillows. I’ve been keeping the firmer Carmel pillows propped up on the bed with the softer Helena pillows in front of them and using each for different purposes throughout the day / night. I would definitely put these on a guest bed or even gift them to others.
