Magnolia Manor is one of many senior communities that offer knitting and crochet clubs for their members. The crafters of this one share a bit:
These ladies put their time and talents to use creating crochet items for donation to various causes. They have crocheted prayer shawls and intention blankets, including blankets to help mothers of stillborn babies in their grieving process. They have also raffled off their crochet to raise money for causes they care about; a floral afghan that was raffled at $600 is shown in the video.

The video also shares some of the benefits of crochet, with one woman saying that crochet is the most relaxing thing that she’s ever done and also that it helps her not to feel so lazy like she would if she was just watching television. She notes that she has read about doctors who knit and crochet. Another woman says that she feels that it helps keep her joints limber. The group had actually begun as a quilting group but over time they lost their “mobility” and couldn’t quilt as easily so they began knitting and crocheting. And, of course, they mention how beneficial it is to be part of this crochet community.
