In January I shared the fashion designers who had already put crochet on the runway for 2017, but the main fashion week shows hadn’t happened, yet. Now they have so it’s time for the update! I always love seeing what designers are doing on the runway that involves handcrafted fashion. Follow all of the links to Vogue to look at the entire beautiful shows and so much more lovely fashion!
Alejandra Alonso Rojas
Vogue reports that at the Alejandra Alonso Rojas her mother was in attendance and was crocheting the whole time. Her clothing is based on memories of the women in her family.
Alena Akhmadullina
Wow, look at the amazing crochet overlay details on this dress by Alena Akhmadullina:
Au Jour Le Jour
Au Jour Le Jour has a whimsical collection that incorporates crochet flowers on a couple of the pieces. There is also one sweater that has felted images bordered in crochet.
Rachel Antonoff
The collection from Rachel Antonoff is controversial and includes this sweater with crochet appliqués of, among other items, an avocado and a tampon.
Mulberry
Mulberry featured eclectic designs that incorporate bits of crochet in unique ways:
Anrealage
The Anrealage show had a few pieces that appear to be made from chunky crochet circle motifs:
Prada
Prada got attention for what many sites called “crochet bras” but they really look like chunky tops inspired by crochet swimwear. There were also cowls worn with many of these pieces although they looked to be knit. And to be honest, it’s hard to tell whether the tops are knit or crochet.
Marni
Sometimes it’s hard to tell if an item from a fashion show is actually hand crocheted. Vogue suggests that the square-based designs from Marni, like the dress shown here, is indeed crochet.
Celebrities in Crochet
Several celebrities were spotted in crochet at Fashion Week events. Alexa Chung wore a pretty full length crochet dress. And Kendall Jenner wore this oversized hoodie that is reportedly Burberry Knitwear:
Knitwear
There is a lot of beautiful non-crochet knitwear throughout the Fall 2017 collection. Usually I don’t share knits but I had to share this oversize knit dress from Undercover:
And this knit triangle peacock dress by Maison Margiela:
