I have recently had the opportunity to see some samples of Knit Wall Murals by Murals Wallpaper. Although the designs aren’t specifically crochet, they are definitely for all yarn lovers. This wallpaper would add the perfect cozy touch to any craft studio and of course also works well in other areas of the home.
I have often thought about crocheting a wall hanging to cover an entire wall as a big statement piece. I haven’t done it, yet, partially because of the time and cost investment involved. I want to be sure of what I want before I create it. Knit wallpaper offers a similar idea.
This company offers 9 different styles of knit-inspired wallpaper. They have three in white, three and grey and three in colored prints. The white and grey come in styles that include cables, chunky knit details and and one design that looks a lot like Tunisian crochet or slip stitch crochet. The colored prints include one Fair Isle design and two others, one very multi-color and the other in blue and white.
I received samples of the Grey Chunky Knit, the White Knit Texture and the Multicoloured Sweater. The colorful one really captured my eye the most. When I held it up to my wall, both my boyfriend and I immediately felt like that would be the one most likely to be included in my own home. I’m drawn to bright colors and have an eclectic home display style. The grey and white were also pretty, and the grey in particular would look great in my living room.
I was surprised to see the difference when I held the pieces up to the wall. Looking at them at first, the images looked a little blurry and oversized, but then when I held them up I realized that they have the perfect texture. The way that they are created makes them look almost like fabric on the wall when viewed from across the room. While the discerning crafter’s eye would obviously know that it wasn’t fabric, it’s also immediately obvious that it has the lush texture of hand knits. They shared in their press release:
“The murals, which are designed and sold by Murals Wallpaper, utilise modern digital printing techniques that capture the intricate, close-up detail of these knit patterns in HD on the highest quality, textured paper. The prints can be hung just like normal wallpaper, but allow for a bigger impact, creating a statement wall.“
The knit wallpaper comes in three different weights, suitable for different areas of the home, design styles and budgets. They explain that the “murals are produced to make installation as simple as possible, meaning fitting can be carried out by anyone with competent DIY skills, or by a painter and decorator who is used to hanging wallpaper.”
