I only rarely mention knitting here on Crochet Concupiscence, since I like to keep it a crochet-focused blog but Tudor Roses is such a unique knitting book that I simply had to share it with you. Learn more about it and then enter the giveaway below for your chance to win a copy.

About Tudor Roses

In 2013, Alice Starmore electrified the knitting world with the bestselling Calla Edition hardcover of Tudor Roses. The designer had gotten inspiration for her knitwear patterns from the inspiring women of the Tudor Dynasty. The book has been hugely successful and now Dover is proud to present a new paperback edition of Tudor Roses, arguably one of the most beautiful craft books ever published.

Tudor Roses offers 14 different knitting patterns for Tudor sweaters and other wearables. Just like with the hardcover copy, the paperback version has beautiful photographs featuring stunning models who portray women like Elizabeth of York and Mary, Queen of Scots wearing fabulous knit fashions. Although it’s a knitting book, it is also a book that will appeal to anyone with a love of this period of history, fashion and art.

Look Inside Tudor Roses

Take a look inside the book to get a sense of what you’ll enjoy if you win or buy a copy:

As you can see, you get a beautiful period-piece inspired photo of the knit garment along with detailed pattern instructions, schematics, etc. More than this, you get to learn about the history that inspired the piece. Starmore did a lot of historical research and shared a true passion for the subject on every page of this book. This is a SMART knitting book. Let’s take a look at one more example of what’s inside Tudor Roses:

About Designer Alice Starmore

She has written 16 books and countless magazine articles. Dover also publishes her acclaimed Aran Knitting and the classic Book of Fair Isle Knitting, which introduced Americans to the popular traditional technique.”

She is the co-founder of Virtual Yarns, the recommended yarn choice for all of the patterns in the book. This company was started with Jade Starmore who is a textile designer and the photographer for the amazing images in Tudor Roses.
